Financial Assistance

Emergency Financial Assistance

Financial help with utilities and/or housing is available to those in need Living in 40272, 40258 or the Jefferson County Portion of 40177 to keep their utilities from being discontinued and/or keeping them from becoming homeless.

You only have 24 hours to respond, before we have to move to the next client!

Applications for financial assistance are based on capacity.

Please call our main line daily 502-935-0310 x242 and listen to the voicemail to see if we are accepting new applications.

*We do not accept email requests or walk-in requests for financial assistance.

Food Services & Senior Programs

Food Pantry

Part of the Dare to Care food distribution program, our Food Pantry provides food supplies and basic necessities to our clients in need. We also get donations from area churches, businesses, schools and individuals.

Food Pantry Hours:
Monday – Thursday and every other Friday
11:30AM – 3:00PM

Senior Food Programs

We maintain two Dare to Care programs that provide food to eligible seniors.

Meals on Wheels

Hot, nutritious meals are prepared and available to eligible home-bound seniors every weekday. A mid-day meal is sponsored by Metro Louisville and an evening meal sponsored by KYOne Health.

Seasonal Programs

Back-to-School

Provides area children with backpacks and various school supplies to match teachers’ lists, helping children to stay in school and learn. Sponsored by donations from individuals, organizations, and LG&E.

We have a limited amount of school supplies available, assistance will be provided on a first come first serve basis.  Applying does not guarantee assistance.  You must live in 40258, 40272 or the Jefferson County Portion of 40177 to receive assistance.

Children's Christmas

Helps bring Christmas joy to neighborhood children in need. Program partners include several area churches, schools, organizations and individuals.

Christmas 2023, we helped 290 children experience the magic of Christmas! All thanks to our sponsors and partners who dedicated time, money, and energy to provide gift items to children in our community who’s parents or guardians are not able.

Winter Help

Community-based funds distributed by SWCM during peak winter season to help with home energy bills. Supported by donations that are matched by LG&E.

In instances where we at Southwest Community Ministries don’t have an assistance option readily available, we partners with other reputable area programs/organizations to meet the demands of our neighbors in need.
